Celebrity Plastic Surgery Disasters?

Plastic surgery doesn’t always turn out the way people want it to – and that’s true for celebrities as well as the rest of us.

Just take a look at these 14 A-listers – and what plastic surgeon Dr. Anthony Youn, who writes the popular Celeb Cosmetic Surgery blog. has to say about each.

Credit: Getty Images

Kenny Rogers

“Kenny Rogers gambled with plastic surgery – and lost!” says Dr. Youn.

“I’m not happy about it,” the country crooner told People magazine in 2006 of a botched eyelid lift. “It drives me crazy.”

With his tight eyelids, he no longer looks like the scruffy, masculine man we knew in the 70’s, says Dr. Youn.

Joan Rivers

Joan Rivers admits to having had lots of plastic surgery, including a facelift, neck lift, and eyelid surgery – and she makes no apologies. Some might say her “work” has been overdone, but who cares?

“She’s A Piece of Work (in a good way),” Dr. Youn says.

Donatella Versace

The first thing one notices about Donatella Versace is her overly plump upper lip. Natural lower lips tend to be about 50 percent larger than the upper lip. But in Versace’s case, the proportions are reversed, yielding what Dr. Youn calls a “trout pout.”

In addition, the designer’s skin looks waxy, possibly the result of multiple laser treatments.

Michael Jackson

A whittled-down nose, lightened skin, an unnatural cleft in the chin, a chin implant, lip augmentation, and God knows what else – Michael Jackson was a classic case of body dysmorphic disorder (BDD), Dr. Youn says.

BDD is a psychiatric condition that makes it impossible to see oneself as others do. This unrealistic view causes BDD sufferers to undergo multiple plastic surgeries in a misguided attempt to correct a defect – one that wasn’t there to begin with, according to Dr. Youn.

Credit: Getty Images

Jocelyn Wildenstein

“Jocelyn Wildenstein is a poster child for plastic surgery gone wrong,” says Dr. Young.

The “Lion Woman of New York” reportedly underwent dozens of plastic surgeries – all in a misguided attempt to win back her husband.

Dr. Youn thinks she might have undergone a brow lift, facelift, lip plumping injections, chin augmentation, fat grafting and/or cheek implants, upper and lower eyelid surgery, and canthopexy, a procedure that elevates the eyes to give them a catlike appearance.

Credit: Getty Images

Heidi Montag

What more can be said about Heidi Montag?

“She underwent 10 cosmetic surgeries in one day. and now she looks less like a person and more like a Barbie doll,” says Dr. Youn.

“In my opinion, none of these ten plastic surgeries have benefited her except in giving her more publicity and more reasons to do more surgery,” says Youn.

The reality star admitted to having a mini brow lift, botox in her forehead, a nose job revision, fat injections in her cheeks, a chin reduction, neck liposuction, ears pinned back, second breast augmentation, liposuction on waist, hips and inner thighs, and a buttock augmentation.

“This troubled fame addict needs a shrink, not a plastic surgeon!” says Youn.

Montag herself has since called the surgeries a mistake.

“People have fewer scars from car accidents than I have on my body,” she told Life Style Weekly.

Credit: Getty Images

Jennifer Grey

“Jennifer Grey is a good example of how a nose job (rhinoplasty) can dramatically alter one’s appearance,” says Dr. Youn. “The removal of the bump (dorsal hump) on Grey’s nose made her look very different from the ‘Baby’ character she played in ‘Dirty Dancing.'”

That nose was one of Grey’s defining features (like Julia Roberts’s lips, Cindy Crawford’s mole, and David Letterman’s gapped teeth).

While her altered appearance didn’t stop Grey from winning “Dancing with The Stars,” it might have gotten in the way of movie roles.

“I personally think she looks better since it’s just a tad smaller,” says Dr. Youn. “But the problem is that she doesn’t look like she used to.”

Credit: Getty Images

Mickey Rourke

Mickey Rourke appears to have undergone a facelift and upper eyelid lift, as well as hair transplants, according to Dr. Youn.

A badly done facelift can cost a man his sideburns, and Dr. Youn says this seems to have happened with Rourke.

“The unnatural curve between his ear and cheek and his now-attached earlobe are also telltale signs of a facelift,” he says.

Credit: Getty Images

Carrot Top

These days, “Carrot Top is looking more and more like a muscle-bound cartoon character,” says Dr. Youn.

He seems to have undergone quite a few changes over the years, Dr. Youn says, yielding an excessively arched brow and a smooth face, possibly the result of laser treatments or chemical peels.

“At least it appears he’s left his eyelids alone,” Youn says, “although maybe they’re next.”

Credit: Getty Images

Priscilla Presley

What if Elvis could see Priscilla now? Dr. Youn says he might be “All Shook Up.”

A few years ago, says Dr. Youn, Priscilla Presley revealed that she got silicone injections in her cheeks – by a phony doctor. That may explain her puffy face – but not her face’s waxy look. Dr. Youn says the latter might have been caused by a combination of repeated laser treatments and Botox.

    The Point Men (2001 )

Average action movie about a murderer who kills Mossad agents

After getting away an assassination s attempt in Luxembourg. a bunch of Israeli agents starts to get killed off one by one. Their leader (Christopher Lambert) must get to the bottom of things before the murderous plan to be completed as he takes one to kill one .

European co-production by UK|France|Luxembourg that contains action. intrigue. thrills. suspense ; however resulting to be some tiring and dull. It s a direct to video film made in low budget and failed at box-office. Based on the novel titled The Heat of Ramadan by Steven Hartov and screenplay by Ripley Highsmith. the film develops an intrigue about secret agents from Mossad and OLP. Regular performances from two main protagonists Christopher Lambert and his nemesis Vincent Regan. The best acting turns out Kerry Fox. a notorious British actress who has not achieved a great success. There appears in a pretty secondary role Maryam d Abo who formerly was Bond-girl for John Glen in The Living daylights . Functional cinematography by Alec Mills shot in Luxembourg. Israel and beach scenes in Nice, Alpes-Maritimes, France. Atmospheric musical score by Waltzing. including Arab and Israel sounds .

The film was produced by the Jewish Avi Nesher. being professionally made by John Glenn. John keeps this moving, though with no much originality and with some flaws and gaps. He has directed the most number of James Bond movies. totaling five. Glenn filmed various 007 outings. previously directed 2nd unit and edition on some early Bond movies. He directed several entries such as Licence to kill , A view to kill . For your eyes only and Octopussy that are incredibly fast pace. The film will appeal to Christopher Lambert enthusiasts. but good for fans only. Rating. Mediocre .

Rice OC Billy Lynch takes his turn at the podium at Rice’s Media Day (PTH photo)
    .
    David Bailiff Media Day video.
    s
HOUSTON (Aug. 3) – Coaches and players alike said things were looking up, as far as prospects for the coming season go – or so they annunciated at Thursday’s annual Media Day Rice football confab held at the Patterson Center at Rice Stadium.

So the 64-dollar question is, are they staring at an 800-pound safe somebody is just tossed out of a ten-story window, hurtling right down at the heads of coach David Bailiff’s beleaguered flock?

Pick your avoirdupois. A Top-10 Stanford team looms in the season opener, in a game to be played in Sydney, Australia, 6,000 miles away from South Main. All four of the Owls’ nonconference bouts will be against teams who paid visits to bowl games last year. And the Western Division of Conference USA still features the same kind of offensive firepower that has always given the Owl defense fits every year, year in and year out, even in the 2013 championship season. Ouch.

But that’s putting the cart before the horse. What matters now, it seems, is unity, camaraderie, spirit, hustle, determination. This Rice squad features all that kind of stuff, head coach David Bailiff said Thursday.

“The first five days of camp have been incredible,” he insisted. “The retention that these young men have and the job our strength staff did this summer; they are in great shape. We’re motoring through the days, motoring through the practice. We have extremely high expectations.”

Rice’s head man, now entering the eleventh year of his coaching reign, says this particular squad has turned out to be fun one to coach. “I really have enjoyed this football team. They have gone to work. They are an older bunch. There’s been great chemistry, there’s great effort and a lot of enthusiasm. The new coaches have really worked in well. More of the players are able to get in and get in extra film and work. There’s just a sense of enthusiasm with this football team and this coaching staff. We want to get back to our winning ways. I think we’re going to do that this year.”

Coach Bailiff, plus his offensive coordinator, Billy Lynch, his new DC, Brian Stewart, and long-time assistant head coach Darrell Patterson all spoke to press over lunch Thursday, after which time a number of veteran Owl players also turned up for interviews.

We’ll present videos of our interviews with all of those Owls, plus coaches’ videos, over the coming few days. Coverage of fall two-a-days will be limited: at least for once, lowering the curtain over Rice Stadium August activities makes just a whole lot of sense, with a new defensive set being installed featuring the three-man front, and a wide open battle for the the quarterback spot.

As for the quarterback battle, don’t expect to know the whole story until the 26th of August, when the Owls take the field against Stanford. Who’ll be the Owls’ starting QB? The matter will be first made known Down Undah, Mate.

    Lexus LC

    Lexus LC

Japan’s husky new starlet trades on glamour.

    2018 Lexus LC Lexus LC 2018 5.0 1.0 5.0

Lexus’s ongoing plot to develop soul-stirring vehicles appears to be coming together when you first see the stunning 2018 LC500 coupe on the road. Away from the ribbons of Spanish asphalt where we first wheeled it in anger. the LC is even more outrageous to behold. Just know that while the car is IMAX-grade automotive theater, the producers have yet to cast the right engine with a proportional amount of forward thrust—although one is coming.

The gaping spindle grille that gives this car the face of an electric razor doesn’t hinder its curbside magnetism as a snarling, V-8–powered sexpot. The LC is also supremely accommodating, with a sumptuous interior, an excellent driving position, and a nose that still will clear parking blocks.

    A Graceful Diva

But while it’s ultra rigid, the steel chassis underpinning a body formed mostly from aluminum and composite panels is onerously heavy: At 4378 pounds, our test car weighed more than a three-row Honda Pilot SUV. The Performance package on our example somewhat countered the excessive weight by replacing the standard glass roof with a carbon-fiber weave. Totaling $10,000, the Performance package also bundles the Convenience package ($1000), huge 21-inch forged-aluminum wheels with run-flat Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires ($2650; 245/40RF-21 in front and 275/35RF-21 out back), a limited-slip differential ($390), active steering on the front axle, rear-wheel steering, body-hugging sport seats, and lots of leather and microsuede.

While the rear steering made our test car feel somewhat aloof at the limit, this sleek wedge can play either a mellow grand tourer or a hunkered-down sports coupe, depending on which of the six driving modes you’ve selected (Eco, Comfort, Normal, Custom, Sport, and Sport+). A general sense of understeer reminds you not to push too hard, yet the LC always feels crisp and poised, thanks in part to its adjustable dampers. Even in the firmest setting, the LC soaks up pockmarked pavement while keeping the body level in corners. And the electrically assisted helm is superquick and precise, transmitting a pleasing amount of road texture from the front contact patches. Versus the standard rack’s 13.0:1 ratio, the active setup can relax up to 13.6:1 or quicken to a sharp 9.8:1.

The driving modes also adjust the volume of the 471-hp 5.0-liter V-8’s gripping soundtrack—up to 88 decibels at full whack in Normal mode—as well as how much snap accompanies the 10-speed automatic’s smartly orchestrated shifts, whether carried out by the transmission’s electronic brain or via the satisfyingly hefty magnesium paddles on the steering wheel. Sport mode was our preferred setting for its balance of refinement, noise, and heightened responsiveness. However, subsequent drives in a standard model, on 20-inch wheels and without the active- and rear-steering gear, reveal the base setup to be even better suited to the LC’s overall demeanor. Along with having a slightly more compliant ride, the standard car’s slower steering and lack of rear steering lend it a calmer, more natural handling balance without diminishing its tactile road feel.

    Razzie-Worthy Performance

Despite the LC’s visual and auditory drama, our test car’s lateral grip (0.93 g) and 156-foot stop from 70 mph are unexceptional at this price point. And its 13.0-second quarter-mile pass at 112 mph is significantly off the pace of other high-end luxury coupes, such as a comparably priced Jaguar F-type or two-door Mercedes-Benz S-class, not to mention the lesser Lexus RC F. We cruised at a solid 29 mpg on our 200-mile highway loop—3 mpg more than the LC500’s EPA highway estimate—yet averaged only 17 mpg in our day-to-day use.

Slipping behind the wheel of the LC also means coping with the demands of Lexus’s Enform infotainment system and its clumsy Remote Touchpad controller. Improvements over the years have seen it gain several secondary buttons for menu shortcuts, but it remains one of the most distracting systems on the market, meaning that you may miss the stares from adoring onlookers while you fumble to change the radio station.

The LC500’s high-five-figure admission fee ($92,975; the LC500h hybrid is $4510 more) suits its exotic looks, with most of our test car’s $12,120 in options worth the upcharge. Along with standard automated emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, automatic high-beams, and lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist, our example also featured a $900 color head-up display and a $1220 Mark Levinson premium stereo with 13 speakers.

But the LC500 ultimately stumbles on the red carpet when interviewed. Were they our box-office dollars, we might hold out for the higher-powered sequel, the twin-turbo 600-hp LC F that we expect Lexus to premiere later this year.

    An Acceptable Form Of Horror

Maybe I m too old. No, not maybe, I am. I saw this characters as aliens of sorts. I know they represent today s landscape, brrrrr. The film as a film is one of the best of David Fincher but the universe it explores gave the chills. A world approaching its end, fast. The youth of the characters made it even more sinister. I couldn t detect their soul or any evidence of its existence. In a way they represent the worst of the previous generations. Roman Emperors or Wall Street. Profit is the name of the game and the ideas come out of boredom of longings to get laid. Love and friendship, loyalty and/or honor as obsolete as good manners. Jesse Eisenberg is chillingly perfect as the humanoid that started it all – or did he? – Justin Timberlake keeps surprising me. Good, very good and Andrew Garfield, the most recognizable of the characters is a victim of sorts and he ll be destroyed no matter how much money he gets. How I wish this was merely a science-fiction film.

It works, but it s very much an oddity.

Chicago cop Johnny Kelly wants to run away, from his job with the police force, and from his perceived mundane marriage. Hoping to flee Chicago with his stripper girlfriend Angel Face, he keeps putting it off with bouts of cold feet. Then one night when Johnny is assigned a new partner, Angel finally grows tired of false hopes and promises, just as Johnny is tempted by the dark side to finally realise both their dreams, but other factors are heading their way.

Directed by John H. Auer and starring Gig Young as Kelly, City That Never Sleeps was brought to us out of the low budget Republic Pictures studio. Oddly fusing film-noir with fantastical elements makes for a most intriguing watch, yet it s very much a slog to get to a point where you feel your time has been worth it. But crucially it is worth the wait, lots of character strands all thread together to give us an exciting, and well executed climax, tho the fantastical finish point is something of a head scratcher to me personally. It s a weird film in many ways, and one that probably needs repeat viewings to fully grasp what the hell is going on with all these characters. The weird feel is emphasised by John L. Russell s grimly lighted photography, who utilises the sparseness of the actual Chicago locations to great effect.

Known to be a favourite film of Martin Scorsese, City That Never Sleeps is actually a little better than it s B movie tagging. But it remains a film that one feels should have been much better. It s alright to fuse more than a couple of genre s, but you have to make it work convincingly within the structure of the plot, and realistically they only just manage to pull it off, courtesy of a fine, if weird, ending. 6/10 but it could go either way upon a further viewing.

Interesting, multi-faceted story of the lives of folks on Florida’s Plantation Island. Many compelling characters populate this film: some sad, some funny, all very real. Great cast includes Edie Falco (The Sopranos), Angela Bassett, Timothy Hutton, James McDaniel, Alan King and Mary Steenburgen. Writer/director John Sayles seems (in my view) incapable of making a bad film. As with all filmmakers, some are better than others. This one falls somewhere in the middle. Sayles has made such excellent films in the past: Eight Men Out, Matewan, Lone Star, and Limbo (to name a few), that when he simply makes a good film it can somehow seem a bit disappointing. Certainly not for all tastes, Sunshine State impressed me, and I give it a 4 (out of 5).
