Muslims Outnumber Christians in More than 30 Church Schools

Muslims outnumber Christian pupils in more than 30 church schools nationwide, including one which proudly proclaims to have a “100 per cent Muslim population”.

The Church of England has estimated that around 20 of its schools have more Muslim than Christian background pupils, while according to the Catholic Education Service, about 15 Catholic schools said the same.

St. Thomas in Werneth, Oldham, has no Christian pupils according to its website, although the Rev Nick Andrewes, who chairs the school’s governors says that figure is “a little out of date”. While 98 per cent of pupils attending Staincliffe C of E Junior School in Batley, West Yorkshire, “come from a Muslim background”, according to its most recent religious inspection report in 2015.

The Rev Nigel Genders, the Church of England’s chief education officer, has told The Times that at Bishop Bridgeman C of E Primary School in Bolton, 90 per cent of pupils were Muslim.

He added: “Yet it feels like a Church of England school.”

He said: “It goes back to the principle that we are not faith schools serving a Christian population but church schools serving the local community.”

Although it is a requirement for both Catholic and CofE schools, which receive government funding, to have a daily act of collective worship that is recognisably Christian, many of the schools appear to be accommodating both Christian and Muslim practices.

Some have incorporated Islamic prayers into their worship acts and allow girls to wear headscarves as part of the official uniform.

All Saints Church of England Primary in Bradford sells hijabs to its pupils.

The website for St. Thomas’ school notes that the school observes “both Christian and Muslim festivals”, while Staincliffe holds shared assembly services with an imam and a parish priest, referred to as the “men in black”, each term.

Their Remembrance Day service includes Islamic as well as Christian prayers, and the school schedules staff training days to coincide with the Islamic festival Eid to improve its attendance ratings, because most Muslim pupils would expect not to attend on those days.

Staincliffe’s website gives its motto as “one team together”, and says it is proud to be “cohesive, inclusive and caring” and “a church school serving a majority Muslim community”.

Education experts have suggested that the schools be turned into secular schools to avoid pupils becoming confused.

Professor Alan Smithers, director of the centre for education at the University of Buckingham, said: “The Church of England has traditionally provided education in this country but now that risks being an uncomfortable experience for the Muslim pupils that fill many of these schools.

“It must also be very confusing for the handful of Christian pupils in some of them. It would seem logical these schools become secular institutions.”

Bible Study on James ~ Introduction and 8 Lessons #god, #lord, #jesus, #christ, #holy #spirit,

James – Faith for Living
Proverbs of the New Testament

A Sure Sign of Life
The book of James, controversial because of its emphasis on good works, is perhaps best understood through the analogy of motion. In both the physical realm as well as the spiritual realm, where there is life there will be motion.
When a person becomes a Christian, new life begins, and inevitably that life must express itself through spiritual motion, or good deeds. In James’ words, What good is it. if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? (2:14)
Movement does not cause life, but it does inevitably follow life. It is a sure sign that life is present. Similarly, genuine faith in Christ should always result in actions that demonstrate faith.

Does James Contradict Paul?
James is not writing about how to become a Christian, but rather how to act like one. Having all the correct beliefs about God will hardly suffice: even demons believe in God. Real, life-giving faith should produce motion, and James minces no words in describing the specific spiritual actions expected of Christians.
Christian thinkers, notably Martin Luther, have struggled to reconcile the message of James with that of Paul, who so firmly warned against slavish legalism. But Paul never belittled holy living. When he wrote to carousers, such as his letter to the Corinthians, he railed against immorality as strongly as James.
Evidently, James’ readers were not even flirting with legalism. They lived at the other extreme, ignoring the laws that God had clearly revealed. James had a simple remedy: “Do not merely listen to the word. Do what it says.” (1:22)

Straight to the Point
Unlike the apostle Paul, James was no urbane man of letters. He was a simple, homespun preacher, perturbed at people who were not living right. His letter covers a wide range of topics, applying the Christian faith to specific problems, and commanding readers to live out their beliefs.
Be humble! James orders. Submit to God! Stop sinning! James is as forthright as an Old Testament prophet; it is hard to miss his point.
Modern readers of James face the same dilemma as the first recipients of this unsettling letter. His words are easy enough to understand, but are we doing as he says? What kind of motion characterizes our spiritual lives? As Luther himself said, “You are saved by faith alone, but if faith is alone, it is not faith.”
As leader of the headquarters church in Jerusalem, James knew how to speak with authority. You don’t have to look for hidden meanings in this book. James tells you clearly how you should act in 54 direct commands. Note that many of these have parallels to Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount. As you study these verses, keep in mind the diverse audience he was addressing which included the rich and the poor. Note, too, his “asides” to specific groups.

Leading a Bible Study of James
If you plan to lead a group in studying James, I recommend you look over the handout and scripture verses, and allow yourself some time to delve into the leader s guide.
I ve found with my groups that each lesson or discussion takes about 45 minutes to go through. I ve also found that people can get passionately involved in these lessons and they can easily run much longer if the leader doesn t keep things moving along. For most of the lessons, there is a supplemental sheet of questions for discussion in small groups. (My main group is fairly large, about 25 men, and we break up after the main lesson into small groups of 3 to 5 men each.)
You ll find that many of the questions are designed to be a springboard to further discussion and there is often no truly right or wrong answer. If you have questions or comments, please use the Send Mail button on the menu below. I guarantee that I will read your comments, however, as this web site gets more than 3,000 visitors per day, I can t possibly answer every one.
In response to your requests, these studies are in Adobe PDF format, so they can easily be printed out. The first file is the handout for the group which also includes supplementary questions for small group discussion. The Leader s Guides (3-4 pages) have answers to the questions and related scripture verses, generally NIV. If you cannot read PDF files, click to download Adobe Reader. Please note that the studies below are minor revisions to those the original studies on James that I posted in 2003.

#Good Faith Estimate

The Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA) requires that banks, mortgage brokers. and mortgage lenders provide borrowers with a Good Faith Estimate and Truth in Lending disclosure as part of the loan process.

These forms, which must be provided within three days of loan application, are essentially a loan summary and an estimate of the charges you’ll incur upon settlement of your loan.

Good Faith Estimate

The Good Faith Estimate, or “GFE” provides basic information such as the lender name and address, sales price, loan amount, interest rate, and type of loan.

It also contains a list of potential fees like the origination fee (if applicable), the appraisal fee, the credit report fee, lender fees, inspection fees, title and escrow fees, settlement fees, and more.

You’ll also find your estimated monthly mortgage payment, including taxes and insurance, so you have an idea as to how much you’ll need to shell out each month assuming the loan closes.

Truth in Lending

The Truth in Lending, or “TIL” disclosure provides your actual APR, which is basically the interest rate factoring in most of the fees tied to the loan.

The TIL is a more accurate representation of the interest rate you will receive because it factors in things like the loan origination fee. underwriting and processing fees, and other costs associated with the loan.

It will also show you the total amount of interest paid over the life of the loan, the total amount of all payments, whether the loan has a variable rate or a prepayment penalty. the cost of late charges, and so on.

Use Them to Shop Your Loan

Once you’ve got your GFE and TIL, you’ll have a better idea as to what the mortgage broker or bank/lender is offering you.

So even if lender “A” offers you a lower interest rate, once related costs are factored in, the actual APR may be cheaper with lender “B” who is offering a higher interest rate because they’re charging you less in the way of fees.

Just Estimates

While this information is generally helpful and useful to shop for a loan, remember that it’s just an estimate, and for that reason, may change.

Don’t be surprised if fees fluctuate between the time you receive the GFE/TIL and the time your loan actually closes.

You should always thoroughly review a copy of the GFE/TIL before making a commitment to any broker, lender, or bank.

All this said, remember that neither a GFE or a TIL is an interest rate lock. and the actual interest rate is not locked until you make an official lock request and get the confirmation in writing.

It’s important to understand this because rates vary daily, and your estimate is only as good as the day it was written.
